Over two days in the Philippines, Peloton WorkReady had the privilege of hosting the HIA WA Philippines Delegation 2026 in cooperation with the Housing Industry Association (HIA) and in partnership with Absolute Immigration Group (AI).
The delegation brought together builders, industry representatives, and workforce specialists from Western Australia to gain firsthand insight into the people, processes, and partnerships that support skilled migration from the Philippines.
While workforce shortages continue to impact the construction industry, this visit wasn’t about presentations and statistics alone. It was about seeing things for themselves.
Looking Beyond the Resume
One of the key objectives of the delegation was to give participants a clearer understanding of how skilled Filipino workers are trained and prepared before they begin their international careers.
Delegates visited TESDA training facilities, active construction sites, and residential developments to see the local industry up close. From trade training and assessment to the quality of workmanship seen on-site, the experience provided a practical perspective that can’t be gained from a report or a video call.
For many delegates, it was an opportunity to connect what they hear about skilled migration with what actually happens on the ground.
Inside the Assessment Process
A highlight of the delegation was the visit to Peloton WorkReady’s trade assessment facilities.
Delegates toured the workshops, observed practical trade testing, and saw candidates being assessed across a range of construction and technical trades. They also witnessed live interviews and trade testing being conducted by one of Western Australia’s major builders.
The visit provided a closer look at the standards, preparation, and assessment processes that help ensure workers are ready for the expectations of Australian employers.
Building Relationships That Matter
Beyond the site visits and presentations, the delegation was ultimately about building stronger relationships.
Whether it was sharing insights over breakfast, discussing workforce challenges, or learning more about the cultural and migration aspects of international recruitment, every conversation contributed to a deeper understanding between industries in Australia and the Philippines.
As the delegation came to a close, one thing was clear: addressing workforce shortages requires more than recruitment alone. It requires collaboration, transparency, and a willingness to understand the journey behind every skilled worker.
